Double Header Weekend For Arneson and Czarapata
Eric "Chummy" Arneson has adapted pretty quick to his IMCA Modified. He has one three features in his first month in the class. Arneson captured Luxemburg’s feature Friday and Seymour’s on Sunday making it a double header winning weekend. Other winners on the evening included: Brandon Czarapata (IMCA Stockcar) Gary Kasperek (Street Stock) Jake Solin(IMCA Sportmod) and Calvin Stueck( 4 Cylinder).
The IMCA Northern Sportmod feature started with Cody Hokenstad jumping out to a good sized lead. Hokenstad would keep everyone at bay until Jake Solin made his way to second. Solin would track down Hokenstad and make the move inside on lap 9. Solin would charge down low into the lead and never look back. Solin would check out for this first victory at Seymour. Jeremy Cota inherited the point lead with his second place finish. Kurt Moeller finished third with Tyler Hackett and Tyler Wilson rounding out the top 5. The race went green flag to checker flag.
Jerry Winkler used an unusual second row starting spot to bounce into the lead on lap 1. Winkler looked to end the streak of Kasperek who had to start deep in the field. Kasperek started 16th and made his way to third by lap 4. Kasperek would battle Aaron Melchert for many laps allowing Winkler to get away. A caution halfway through the race allowed Kasperek the break he needed. Kasperek worked the bottom on the restart and then shot to the top. Kasperek used a couple laps on top to gain the lead. Kasperek pulled away in the remaining laps to keep his season perfect winning 4 straight features. Winkler took home second place points with Travis Springstroh third. Hiles lost 3 points to the point leader with his fourth place finish. Bob Czarapata took fifth.
Eric Arneson started third and moved quickly to the lead on the first lap of the IMCA Modified Main. Mike Mullen, who started midpack quickly made his move to the top 3. Mullen would spend the entire race battling with Russ Reinwald for second. With 5 laps remaining, Jason Czarapata made his way into the battle for second. Arneson would cruise to his first career IMCA Modified win at Seymour. Reinwald would nip Mullen for second at the line. Czarapata would settle for fourth at the line with Marcus Yarie a strong fifth.
Josh Mrockowski led the opening laps of the IMCA Stockcar feature before Mitch Stankowski took the lead inside. Stankowski would hold the lead through a couple of cautions. Kyle Frederick would work his way to second and move to the outside of Stankowski for the lead on lap 7. Frederick would make the pass through the middle but Brandon Czarapata would come right behind. With Frederick coming up off the bottom of the track Czarapata would stay right on the tires. Going into turn one with 5 laps to go, contact between the two sent Frederick up the track giving Czarapata the lead. Czarapata would cruise to his third win of the season and second of the weekend. Frederick scored second place with Mike Coel coming in a cool third. Stankowski slid to fourth and Brian Ambrosius wound up fifth.
Calvin Stueck put on a dominating performance in the 4 Cylinder Feature. Stueck won his second feature in a row. Trailing at the checkers were point leader Jeff Behm, Tyler Hungerford, Jody Cornelius and Matt Brehmer.
