March 16- The N.E.W. DIRT board met on Sunday afternoon and among the discussions was the Spring Thaw scheduled for April 5 at the Seymour Speedway.
The track was graded off on Friday March 14, and looks to be in good shape. However, the grounds are covered with deep snow. Both will need sun and some warmer weather to be useable.
The board agreed to move the opener back one week, to Saturday April 12 or Sunday April 13, to enable crews to whip everything into shape.
This will still be the first race in Northeastern Wisconsin as all other tracks are scheduled for April 19.
The Spring Thaw will be headlined by the WDLMA Late Models and joined by the IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars and Sport Mods. Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders and Grand Nationals will round out the big show.
Pit gates will open at 11 AM, with all divisions using draw/re-draw for the line ups.
Grandstand will open at 12 noon with races starting at 2 PM.
The track will then be idle on April 20 for Easter and 27 for the FFA Auction.
The first weekly point race will be on Sunday May 4, with IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars and Sport Mods, Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders.
The weekly racing programs will start at 5:30 throughout the 2014 schedule.
The Holiday Classic Series will return with races on May 25, June 29 and August 31. This 3 race series will have all 5 regular divisions in action along with the WDLMA Late Models.
Returning to the high banked oval for the first time since 2008 will be the high powered IRA Sprint Cars on Sunday night, August 17. The regular divisions will be in action running a special format for the night.
As winter slowly slips away, everyone is anxious for the first race and the Seymour Speedway is looking to bring you the best weekly program in the area this season.
