June 28 - Race Report

Seymour, June 28 - A bit windy, but a beautiful night for racing, on Lock and Load Transports of Green Bay night at the Seymour Speedway.

STREET STOCK #22   Todd Everard returned to victory lane after his 5th feature win this seasonThe Street Stocks were up first with Mert Summers grabbing the lead from the pole with Jesse LaCrosse, Matt Drawenek, Bob Czarapata and Aaron Melchert. Summers hooked up on the outside line as the rest of the pack ran all over the track to find the best spot for them.
A pair of cautions on laps 5 and 9 erased leads by Summers and bunched the field behind. Drawenek, Jeremy Wiitala, point leader, David Hoerning, Todd Everard and Melchert were right behind.

IMCA STOCK CAR  #9   Jamie Becks picked up his first checker of the season winning his heat race Sunday nightThe field again spread the track with Summers on the outside. Wiitala moved into second and challenged with Everard making a run down low to third on lap 14. Wiitala moved up the track and Everard stayed low, and on lap 17 was able to take over the runner up spot and move alongside Summers. Everard slipped into the top spot as the white flag appeared and held on to collect his 5th feature win of the season. Summers held on for the second place finish with Hoerning edging Wiitala for third. Drawenek and Melchert rounded out the top six.

IMCA STOCK CAR #10   Rod Snellenberger edged Shawn Wagner by inches at the finish line to collect his second feature win of the seasonKevin Bethke drove from the front row to the lead after an opening lap caution with Ralph Liegeois, Jr, Josh Long, Jamie Schmidt, Brandon Long and Chad Nelson running behind. Bethke held the lead while hooked up on the outside. Jamie Schmidt moved into the second spot on lap 6 with Josh Long and Nelson moving to the front on the inside. A final caution on lap 8 set up a great battle for the top spot. Bethke and Schmidt were running high and Nelson snuck by both by both on the inside on lap 10. Schmidt also moved into second and pulled alongside Nelson still hooked on the outside. The pair opened a lead and went back and forth over the final half of the race in a thrilling battle. Over the final 3 laps it was a dead heat as they ran side by side. Nelson was able to hold his line and collected his first career feature win. Schmidt was alongside at the finish line for second. Eugene Gregorich came from 16th to take the third place finish ahead of Johnny Whitman. Josh Long and Travis Van Straten round out the top six.

IMCA SPORT MOD #09    Kevin Bethke won his first race st the Seyour Speedway Sunday nihgt, taking a heat race checkerThree cautions over the first 4 laps got the IMCA Stock Car main off to a slow start but once the field settled down drove the final distance non stop. Rod Snellenberger took the lead after the final restart from Darren Otto while Shawn Wagner, Otto and Jeremy Christians settled in behind. Snellenberger was able to open a slight lead while the battle for second kept the group bunched. Wagner was able to take over the runner up spot on lap 11 and started to erase the lead. Wagner was running the outside and Snellenberger was hooked low. Wagner was able to inch into the lead on lap 16 and for the final laps, the pair ran side by side, swapping the lead back and forth. On the final lap, a lapped car forced Wagner to get off the power briefly which allowed Snellenberger to take the top spot again, Wagner made a final hard charge out of the final turn which fell inches short at the f line, giving Snellenberger his second feature win of the year. Otto was able to hold on to the third place finish with Christians, after winning the consy, took 4th. Larry Karcz, Jr and Kyle Frederick round out the top six.

IMCA SPORT MOD  #44  Chad Nelson won his first career feature Sunday night by inches over Jamie Schmidt Sunday night at the Seymour SpeedwayThe Budweiser IMCA Modifieds attacked the track nest with a debris caution bunching the pack on lap 3. Tim van De Hei was leading the way until Jared Siefert moved by using the outside line on lap 5. Siefert was able to open a lead as the battle developed for the second spot. Eric Mullen, Van de Hei, Brian Mullen, Jason Czarapata, jerry Wilinski, and Brandon Czarapata were in a tight group. Siefert continued to extend his lead as the war raged for second. Eric Mullen and Van De Hei were running side by side, with neither able to break lose. Brian Mullen was looking all over the track for an opening , but could not squeeze between the pair. The rest of the pack could only run and wait for an opening to develop. With three laps left, the break came for a stalled car, which brought out the caution and set up the dash for the win. Siefert lost his huge lead with Eric Mullen, Brian Mullen, Van De Hei, Brandon and Jason Czarapata and Wilinski right behind. Brian Mullen was able to slip by nephew, Eric for second and pulled right behind Siefert in the outside line. Van De Hei was forced outside for the restart which allowed Brandon Czarapata the inside line. Czarapata moved up after and pulled even with the lead as the white flag appeared. There was a drag race over the final lap with a dead heat out of the final turn to the finish line.

Czarapata was able to take the win by inches over Siefert for his first ever division feature win at Seymour. Brian Mullen held off Jason Czarapata for third with Van De Hei and Wilinski rounding out the top 6.

BUDWEISER IMCA MODIFIED #33  Brandon Czatrapata picked up his first carrer division feature win Sunday night edging Jared Siefert by inches atr the lineSam Ambrosius set the pace for the opening 2 laps of the 4 Cylinder main before Ralph Liegeois took command on lap 3. Two laps later, Kevin Birr moved into second and after a couple laps, moved to the outside to challenge for the lead. The pair swapped the lead a couple times until a red flag for a roll over in turn 2 on lap 13, stopped the action. Josh Roehl was involved with several other cars and rolled over onto the side . He was not injured and the restart left a 2 lap dash to the finish. Liegeois was able to hold off Birr to win his second straight feature. Calvin Stueck, Tony Everard, Josh Vogel and Justin Vannieuwenniven round out the top six.

This Sunday night will be the second leg of the Summer Holiday Classic. The WDLMA Late Models will return for the a second time this season to join the 5 regular division for a big night of action to close out your big 4th of July weekend.

Gates will open a half hour earlier, at 3 for the pit and 4 for the grandstand. Racing starts at 6 PM.
